This is a 1960 Old Town Otca, I canvased in the fall and let cure over the winter suspended from the ceiling in my shop.

Here are the new outrails being rabbeted and the cured canvas trimmed.

This camp canoe from Camp Monomanac in Rindge , N.H. needed canvas , decks, rails and a few planks.

Crotches from cherry , apple , birch or locust are my favorites . If wood is too stubborn to split , it might make a good knee or breasthook.

This canoe was bought in 1950 for the family that still owns it. It needed new rails and decks , a few planks and stem heads. This was a typical restoration.

Woodstove Insert Surround & Mantle

I built the surround and mantle for this woodstove insert from some interesting woods. The three panels above the insert are fashioned from book-matched apple spalts. There is cherry, maple and cherry veneer.

This is a fireplace surround and mantlepiece made from oak in a natural finish.

Fold-down Writing Desk

This desk can fold down out of the way when not in use. I took my inspiration for this project from the space-saving style of carpentry used in ship’s cabins.
